24, 2017) Following a pair of shows that fell victim to Mother
Nature, the dirt started flying again at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville,
Florida tonight in the penultimate event of the 46th Annual 'DIRTcar
Nationals.' A $10,000 top prize was up for grabs in the World of Outlaws
Craftsman Late Model Series special. Dale McDowell logged the fourteenth
fastest time in Group A during the qualifying session before bagging
the third and final transfer spot through his heat race. After starting
the 40-lap feature from the inside of the seventh row, Dale was unfortunately
involved in an early tangle and retired from the fog-shortened race
in the twenty-sixth position.
(February 23, 2017) Back-to-back rain-outs have stricken
the annual 'DIRTcar Nationals,' as tonight's $10,000 to win World of
Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series tilt at Volusia Speedway Park was
nixed by inclement weather early in the afternoon. The event will not
be rescheduled and the rain-out leaves only two races left during the
2017 version of the 'DIRTcar Nationals' at the Barberville, Florida

Beach-area speedplant. "MacDaddy" Dale McDowell posted the

Dale wound up finishing right where he started... in the eleventh position.

the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series season tonight in the
$8,000 to win 'Winter Freeze' opener at Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania,
Georgia. Dale McDowell laid down the fourth fastest lap in Group A during
the qualifying session and was running strong early in his heat race
until an unfortunate bout with the wall. Dale wound up eleventh in his
heat race and subsequently scratched for the remainder of the night
with damage. He was not able to compete in the 40-lapper, which was
eventually won by Rick Eckert.
29, 2017) The Shane McDowell Racing (SMR) team made their debut
with driver Dale McDowell on Saturday, January 28 in the annual running
of the 'Cabin Fever 40' at Boyd's Speedway in Ringgold, Georgia. A strong
field of 36 Super Late Models rolled into the Chattanooga-area facility
to compete in the Schaeffer's Oil Iron-Man Championship Series special,
which boasted a $3,500 winner's check. Dale knocked down the third quickest
time in Group B during the qualifying session, which locked him into
the outside of the third row for the start of the 40-lap headliner.
With passing at a premium throughout the daytime feature event, Dale
wound up finishing right where he started... in the sixth position behind
only winner Shanon Buckingham, Billy Ogle, Jr., Justin Litchford, John
Ownbey, and David Brannon. Full results from Boyd's can be located online
11, 2017) Kinzer Motorsports and Shane McDowell Racing (SMR)
have jointly announced today that they have formed a partnership heading
into the 2017 racing season. Essentially, the two Super Late Model teams
will share resources, sponsorship, and crew members for drivers Brandon
Kinzer and Dale McDowell. Kinzer Motorsports will remain located in
Allen, Kentucky for the time being, while the newly-formed Shane McDowell
Racing (SMR) team will be headquartered at Richard Childress Racing
in Welcome, North Carolina.
"I am thrilled with this alliance that we have formed with Shane
McDowell Racing and it should be fruitful for all parties," quoted
Brandon Kinzer recently. "I have been friends with Dale and Shane
for a long time and I really admire how they handle themselves both
on and off the racetrack. With different businesses and family obligations
taking up the bulk of my time, I just don't have the time to race like
I need to and like you have to these days to keep up with everything
that is going on with these cars. Aligning ourselves with Dale and Shane
will not only help their program with added resources, but it will strengthen
Kinzer Motorsports as well being in the same equipment and having their
expertise and experience at our disposal." |
