Dale McDowell Sits Sixth in Lucas Oil Series Points Following Pair of Top Tens! (CHICKAMAUGA, GEORGIA) Dale McDowell and his #17m Dirt Late Model team headed west to the Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois and the Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri on July 16-17 for two more Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series showdowns. On Friday night at Granite City, Dale went for a ride during qualifying, as he hit the wall and flipped his Warrior racecar. He emerged unscathed from the wreck, but was forced to take use of a series provisional to gain access into the $10,000 to win main event. During the course of the 'Budweiser 50,' Dale drove his back-up car past sixteen competitors en route to a stellar seventh place performance. At Wheatland on Saturday evening, the Clint Bowyer Racing team competed in the 'CMH Diamond Nationals,' which also paid $10,000 to the winner. Dale ran fifth in his stacked heat race, but later finished third in his B-Main to earn the twenty-first starting spot in the 50-lap main event. The Chickamauga, Georgia native once again stormed towards the front in the A-Main, as he blasted past thirteen cars to secure an eighth place effort. Dale still finds himself sixth in the latest version of the LOLMDS point standings following the pair of SPEED Channel taped races this past weekend. The #17m team will take the upcoming July 23-24 weekend off from racing action to gear up for a three-race Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series east coast swing. The Fonda Speedway in Fonda, New York will kick things off on July 27, while other series races next week will take place at the Utica Rome Speedway in Vernon, New York on July 29 and the Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown, Maryland on July 31. All three LOLMDS programs will be headlined by $10,000 to win feature events. Additional information can be found by clicking on www.lucasdirt.com.
