Dale McDowell Climbs to Third in Lucas Oil Series Points Following Strong Weekend!

(CHICKAMAUGA, GEORGIA) Dale McDowell and the Clint Bowyer Racing team jumped back on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series trail this past weekend (March 6-7) in a pair of races in Tennessee and South Carolina. On Saturday night at the Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tennessee, Dale ran third in his competitive heat race to earn the ninth starting spot in the $10,000 to win 'Spring Thaw' main event. Dale was able to maintain his position throughout the 60-lap A-Main at "The Gap" and brought home a solid ninth place finish.

The doubleheader weekend wrapped up on Sunday afternoon at the historic Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, South Carolina with another $10,000 to win Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series show. After running second in heat race action, Dale rolled off from the outside of the third row in the 50-lap feature event. The Chickamauga, Georgia native stormed to the lead on lap eleven and paced the stout field on two separate occasions for a total of twenty-six circuits. He appeared to be en route to his first victory of 2010, but defending series champion Scott Bloomquist passed McDowell on the final lap and Dale was forced to settle for a strong runner-up performance.
